Eastern Oysters
Crassostrea virginica (Gmelin, 1791)
Eastern Oysters are collected since some versions resemble the form of a foot iwth toes or hands. The toes appear at times to be webbed hence the title "Duck's foot" or "Duck's Feet" shells. Small thin versions of this oyster resemble the Kitten's paw shells whic hare from Family Plicatulidae.
