The Orange Semele is usually categorized under the Purplish (Semele purpurascens) Gmelin, 1791 but clearly it is an established color. Shell size to 1.5" and is thin, elliptical. Sculpture of concentric striations stronger at anterior margin, separated by wider interspaces. Concentric growth lines present between striations. Umbones posterior. Ligament internal. Color orange sometimes mixed with other colors (red, purple, tan). Umbones of darker orange color.
