New Paintings
I've done 14 paintings in my Driftwood Series and 14 large 30" by 40" paintings in my Bluegrass Series over the last 3 years. Yes, I've been fairly busy. I've also written 2 complete books for Mel Bay and half of a third book. Finally I finished my painting of Heaven (it needs some minor touching up, but it's bascially finished).
Two of my newer paintings that are important but don't fit into the two Series are Reflections done in 2007 and Bipolar done in 2008. Reflections is a mind blower, it took a lot of time and effort- from taking photos of downtown Winston-Salem to studying how to draw and paint reflections. Certainly reflections are one of the hardest concepts in art.
At this point I'm not certain if I will include Bipolar on my website since it's a nude of my wife. She asked my to paint her so I finally figured out a suitable portrait and theme. Since she's bipolar I though I'd do a portrait of her that really captured her physically and emotionally plus it shows the same emotional suffering millions of other people must endure.
