River Rocks: Acrylic on Canvas (wood frame) 18" by 24" C 2007
This is the scene you can see of the Mississippi River right outside our family cabin door in Oquawka, IL. If you walk down the brick steps (which I built by the way) you can walk along Front Street with the River only 30 feet below. The county piled rocks along the bank to keep the road from eroding into the River.
Last year in the great flood of 2008 the water would have been right where I was standing to take the picture. Of course I added a piece of unusual driftwood on the rocks with an unmistakable human form.
