About The Painting

Reaching For the Sky 24" by 30" Acrylic on canvas.

The Driftwood Series began in 2007 when I moved to Oquawka, IL on the Mississippi River. I gathered pieces of driftwood from the riverbanks. The images reminded me human forms trying to escape their wooden prisons. One driftwood piece looked like it had a hand reaching for the sun.

On this beach scene the driftwood turns into a woman reaching with an outstretched arm. I found a similar image on the web but it's not currently on my newer computer which I updated this year.
