About the Painting

Close Up Photo of Driftwood Grain

                                  Siren’s Call 30" by 24" Acrylic on canvas. C 2007.

Siren’s Call is based this photo of a close-up of driftwood slab. To me this actual image resembles clearly woman’s breasts and female forms emerging out of the driftwood grain. This reminded me of the tale in Homer’s Odessy about Ulysses sailing around the Siren’s Island where the sirens use their music to lure Ulysses ship. In my painting the Sirens emerge from the grain of wood and make up the clouds in the sky.
