The Yellow Prickly Cockle is abundant on the beaches of South Hutchinson Island. The beak is frequently tinged with pink or light red. Shell size to about 3"; similar to Trachycardium egmontianum but with more oval outline. Sculpture of 20-40 radial ribs bearing sharp scales. Scales less prominent on central ribs. Albino shells not uncommon.
